Chefs in Training - Sweet nachos

This week, the Cooking club was busy making nachos and fruit salsa! We were very small for the summer program so we had a lot of work for just a couple children. We started by washing and peeling our fruit for the nachos which were strawberries, kiwi, and peaches. We then cut up the tortillas and brushed them with olive oil and sprinkled them with a bit of sugar/cinnamon mix. The children had a hard time sprinkling evenly so some of the nachos had a lot of the mixture while others had none at all. While we baked the nachos, the children set to work cutting up the fruit into teeny-tiny pieces for the salsa. Some of them were patient enough to finish while others hurried, ready for the task to be done. We mixed the fruit with a squeeze of lime and mixed well. We took the colorful food outside for all to enjoy and we didn't even have leftovers!
