Chefs in Training - Rocket Kabobs
Our theme for the month of May is Space and the Universe, so naturally we decided to make something theme related: Rocket Kabobs!
We started by washing our fruit: watermelon and strawberries. We left the cutting of the watermelon to our teacher, but the older children cut up the bananas and strawberries. We decided to use the tops of strawberries, which have a triangle shape, to be one of the options as the top of the rocket. Our teacher cut up the watermelon into triangle and square shapes to be used as the tops and the middle area. We also included mozzarella balls as a non-sweet option. After the children received their wooden sticks, they were free to use their creativity to create their own rockets. As you can see from the photos, the children had great ideas and executed them with care. Everyone enjoyed eating their healthy snack and sneaking nibbles from the left-over food. :)
