Chefs in Training - Egg in a Hole
The chefs this week made a usual breakfast food, egg in a hole. We used two different cookie cutters, a flower and heart, to make the holes in the whole wheat bread. After that, the children took turns using the pan and cracking the eggs into their bread holes. This was hard for some of the younger kids who needed help to crack or fish out shell pieces in their bread. After cooking it on one side, the children flipped the bread and egg over to cook the other side. This took many tries for some children because the bread kept breaking. Once the egg was cooked, we moved the bread to the plates where we sprinkled it with a pinch of salt and ate up. They used the leftover piece of bread to dunk in the egg yolk and enjoyed their afternoon snack.
