Chefs in Training - Apple Donuts
The Cooking club continues throughout the summer program at our school. Today, the children were hungry for something sweet, as usual. So we decided to make donuts, but with apples. We started by washing the apples and then cutting off the tops and bottoms. We sliced the middle into about three or four rounds and cut out the middle for the 'donut' style look. The children then started decorating. We had a layer of yogurt, vanilla or blueberry, that they had to spread on first. After, they had a selection of toppings to choose from such as shredded coconut, dark cacao, chopped hazelnuts, and strawberry muesli. The children got really creative and were able to make quite a few. We ate one immediately and then put the rest in the fridge for a cool treat tomorrow. :)
