Summer Program - Guacamole and Jednohubky
Since we ended the school year, our school has been open for a four week summer program. Our theme is 'Around the World' and each week we are stopping at a different continent.
Our first week consisted of a four day program on both South America and North America. We danced to Latin dance music and learned different dance steps. We added the continents to our huge map, and celebrated the 4th of July, the American Independence day. We accompanied this with a guacamole tasting with typical tortilla chips! The kids enjoyed it even though it had onions and garlic.
Our second week we spent discussing the different countries of Europe. We spent the days playing typical games like football, learning a traditional Czech dance, and learning about different cultural monuments and traditions of countries. We also added the continent to our big map, with pinpoints on each country where each child is from. Our last day was spent making the typical Czech snack, Jednohubky. The children spread on the cream cheese and got choose from ham, cheese, and cucumber as toppings. We ate some immediately and then decided to save some for our parents.
Stay tuned for next week's cooking adventures! It's asian themed!
